The Role
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Conversion Machine Operator to join our production team. In this role, you will operate conversion machinery used to manufacture plastic packaging products, ensuring output meets quality standards and production targets.
This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment requiring strong attention to detail, good communication skills and a proactive approach to maintaining machine performance and product quality.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, operate and monitor conversion machinery to produce plastic packaging products (e.g. bags)
Adjust machine settings to meet job specifications and production requirements
Read, interpret and follow job cards accurately for each production run
Conduct routine inspections and perform basic machine maintenance
Identify and report any faults or major issues to the Team Leader promptly
Monitor machine performance using control systems and adjust as required
Ensure products meet quality standards through regular checks and inspections
Maintain accurate production records, including output, machine settings and any issues encountered
Handle materials safely and ensure correct storage and organisation within the production area
Maintain high standards of housekeeping in line with ISO and BRC requirements
Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures and company policies at all times
Work collaboratively with team members to improve efficiency and workflow
Requirements
Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a manufacturing or production environment (required)
GCSE or equivalent (required)
Basic mechanical awareness and ability to operate machinery
Good numeracy and measurement skills
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to read and follow written instructions and job specifications
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Willingness to work a rotating continental shift pattern
